Currently we are looking for an experienced Quantitative Developer. This is a great opportunity to grow within an international company as EPAM in our brand new office in Malaga and be part of a successful company in continuous growth.

You will be working alongside globally renowned and award-winning design, development and technology teams who are passionate about what they do and how they do it.

We always hire for a career in EPAM, but the initial client for this hire is a leading UK-based Hedge Fund with aggressive growth aspirations and a challenging delivery agenda.

In order to be successful in the QD team we seek candidates who combine excellent academics and programming skills with a strong mathematics and demonstrable financial market understanding. Successful candidates will require a practical approach to problem solving, an ability to understand the requirements of a quantitative analytics library and how that translates into connections to the broader technology infrastructure.


  • Working with business customers, QAs and SDs to identify technical challenges and opportunities;
  • Delivering industry-leading solutions to the highest design, testing and operational standards;
  • Delving into and understanding day-to-day quantitative issues:
    • Understanding the performance characteristics, design and operational parameters of our systems, improving where necessary;
    • Aiding with the integration of new analytics models with the broader stack;
    • Actively reviewing both QD development work and any QA colleagues’ work that needs to interact with infrastructure services;
    • Investigating and answering business questions on the results and state of the existing system;
    • Challenging current systems, processes and delivery approach to achieve common goals through technical excellence and innovation.


  • Levels at grade A*/A/B and a minimum 2.1 in a numerate degree from a Russell Group University (or equivalent international secondary/tertiary education);
  • Excellent programming and technology skills including an in-depth understanding of, and recent programming experience in, an object oriented programming language – e.g. C#, C++ or Java, amongst others – we primarily use C#;
  • Knowledge of relational databases and confidence in writing and maintaining SQL – we primarily use MS SQL;
  • Highly numerate, with exposure to derivatives and market knowledge;
  • Experience working, or appropriate academics, in financial markets with derivatives (ideally with both OTC and listed);
  • Experience in software testing – and how to design and drive software development with testing in mind – e.g. unit, functional, integration, regression, smoke, etc;
  • Combining the ability to reach consensus with colleagues and act as a team player with the ability to work independently and with initiative;
  • Full knowledge and experience of the Software Development Lifecycle.

Nice to have

  • Advanced study in financial markets – e.g. Master of Finance, CQF, CFA, etc;
  • Higher level degree in a numerate subject from a top-tier university;
  • Experience with next-generation storage models – e.g. NoSQL, distributed cache, etc;
  • Direct front office exposure/experience at a bank or hedge fund;
  • Understanding of various quantitative analytics topics – e.g. Black Scholes, Monte Carlo, PDE, risk frameworks, historical / statistical analysis, etc;
  • Experience working with RESTful services, AMQP;
  • Exposure to pair programming and test-driven development.
