Currently we are looking for a Business Analyst for our Moscow office to make the team even stronger.

Our customer is a company operating in the Oil and Gas industry and performing all kinds of activities connected with oil extraction and processing. The customer is developing massive mining field on the coast of Caspian Sea. EPAM has been working with the customer for 5 years. Our experts – PM’s, analysts, architects, developers, quality assurance engineers (approximately 50 employees) are working on projects in field of automation and improvement of customer’s systems together with staff from customer’s side and other stakeholders.

All processes and technologies are taken from the customer. Official language on workplace is English. There are a lot of expats among middle and top managers. Oil&Gas is an Umbrella, nevertheless all projects vary, affecting all sorts of customer departments from HR and Finance to oil mining and processing on the factory. Toolkit mainly consists of Microsoft products MS SQL, SharePoint, BizTalk, Azure.

The workplace is on customer side in Atyrau city. Work schedule: relocation on several months or one year and more to Atyrau or 75% of working time on-site. For example – 3 weeks on-site \ 1 week off-site or 6 weeks on-site \ 2 weeks off-site (discussed).


  • Take part in application business analysis and IT technical solution consulting and application deployment planning and execution for both vendor and internally developed applications;
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders involved with system enhancements;
  • Research and analyze questions and issues to ensure a comprehensive design in development is made applying the best technology;
  • Review and understand details of application enhancement requests;
  • Write specifications to the appropriate detail level using the appropriate documentation;
  • Collaborate with technical staff during development of a new system enhancement;
  • Assist project managers with project task estimation;
  • Participate in acceptance testing for maintenance enhancements and new system releases. Make sure that the best practice testing processes are utilized;
  • May be asked to prepare, script, and execute test cases;
  • Work with the Project Manager and Technical Team to resolve issues identified during testing;
  • Effectively document items for others to be used in decision-making, coding and procedures. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and stored in the repository database;
  • Communicate status of project tasks to Project Manager. Be particularly diligent in reporting task changes that impact project schedules;
  • Communicate with Technical Analyst with regards to specification changes;
  • Communicate to business partners final specifications;
  • Bridge between the business partner and the technical team by acting as a technical liaison and stakeholder advocate;
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure alternatives have been carefully considered and that the chosen solution meets business objectives;
  • Conduct requirements gathering sessions with the business in phase 2 - eliciting, facilitating, documenting, and finalizing business requirements (e.g. process modeling, data, business rules, functions, etc.);
  • Develop test cases and plans, run system-testing, conduct testing validation;
  • Ensure business’ requirements are met;
  • Apply a foundation of technical knowledge to a variety of business needs using industry standards and information protection policies;
  • Apply Operational Excellence principles, practices, and processes;
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture development from a business needs point of view;
  • Be responsible for preparation of requirements documents, testing plans and other documents requested from the Project Manager;
  • Familiar with the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge mat.


  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or other relevant fields;
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in a business analyst role;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • English: Upper-Intermediate level or higher;
  • Effective communication skills - written and verbal;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-IT-discipline and multi-cultural environment;
  • Effective data analysis and detail-oriented in order to draw meaningful and logical conclusions;
  • Expertise in specific BA techniques, tools or business areas. Proficiency in the majority of the BA areas;
  • Understanding of the large and complex technical landscape;
  • Be able to plan and schedule own work competently;
  • Meet deadlines and results with a demonstrable track record of delivery against targets;
  • Stakeholder management: understand, work efficiently and communicate effectively within a complex organization with multiple stakeholders;
  • Ability to work effectively and manage relationships with senior business leaders, peers and subordinates, in a virtual, geographically dispersed and cross-cultural environment;
  • Proven experience in clearly defining and documenting BR;
  • Ability to effectively engage business and technical resources on all levels.
